The Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch

Youth Camping Programs

Rev. Fr. Christopher Shadid

Antiochian Village Camp Director

Batman and Robin, peanut butter and jelly, Saint Peter and Saint Paul, loobiye and rice - all of these things go together, and it’s hard to imagine any of them without the other.

The same relationship can be said for The Order of Saint Ignatius and our camping programs in the Antiochian Archdiocese.

For decades, The Order has supported our camping programs with millions of dollars of camper scholarships, making it possible for thousands of young people to attend camp, who otherwise would not be able to do so. Every year, at least 1 in 4 campers receive some sort of financial assistance from parishes, private donors, and especially from The Order of Saint Ignatius.

Of course, The Order offers necessary funds to enable campers to attend camp. But more important than any amount of money, the prayers from the members of The Order, and the fact that The Order members talk about and promote Camp wherever they go, enable our camping programs to continue doing the important ministry that they do, offering an environment for all those who attend to grow closer to Christ.

Camp Transfiguration Counselor

As a youth leader myself, I appreciate quality resources that instantly equip the youth leader with knowledge, education or means to bring about growth in Christ for the young whom they serve.

Funding from the Order of St. Ignatius brings our Archdiocese youth - regardless of financial situation - to one of our Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese's summer camps. Our Diocesan Camp, Camp Transfiguration, has seen hundreds of campers assisted by the Order of St. Ignatius’ camp scholarships in just the past few years.

  • “So our children can pray, sing, laugh and even cry with one another as they grow stronger in their Orthodox Faith and closer to our Lord … together.”

We recognize a tree by its fruit, and we ought to be able to recognize a Christian by his action.
