Letter from the Chairperson

Ramzi Khairallah, MD

50 years after its inception, The Order of St Ignatius of Antioch stands tall. It stands tall on the shoulders of men and women who have worked very hard in the past 50 years! The achievements that have been accumulated over time are not measured merely in monetary terms. Throughout this website, you will see many examples of those achievements, and how important they are to the mission of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. And yes, millions of dollars have been consecrated over the years for this great cause; but more important than the amount of money given is the opportunity that each member of The Order has received. To be part of this great family that we call The Order Of Saint Ignatius of Antioch means a lot more than a yearly contribution. It is a commitment to let the will of God take over our present and our future. This is the achievement that means the most for us as members of The Order. There is no sweeter sacrifice. There is no greater joy in giving.

By supporting the different ministries of our Archdiocese including our clergy in retirement and our seminarians and youth, we fulfill our calling as Orthodox Christians. Caring for our neighbors in need starts here. By planting the seed of faith in our youth through ministries such as teen SOYO, Christian education, and our own Antiochian summer camps, our Archdiocese lights the path before us and leads us so we can use the money in the right direction: to experience the bonds of Orthodox Tradition early on.

Needless to say, it was the vision and guidance of Metropolitan PHILLIP of thrice- blessed memory that gave flight to The Order and its tremendous success. Today, it is through the vision and guidance of Metropolitan SABA as well as his unconditional support that The Order thrives and is reaching milestones with continued growth. As of now, we stand more than 3,000 members strong, our congregation diverse and varied. I want to emphasize this word: diverse. We encompass every background here in The Order. Our governing council includes past national chairpersons, current executive members at the national and local diocesan levels and different committee leaders and members. Some are seasoned veterans who have been doing this work for many years, while others just joined our ranks with new ideas and great energy. But all of them are willing to sacrifice and spare no effort or money for the growth of our organization. We also delight in the support and guidance of our national spiritual advisor, his Grace Bishop THOMAS, and as well as our clergy who serve as spiritual advisors at the diocesan level, and all our clergy advocating for The Order.

At the local chapters level, we continue recruiting ambassadors with the vision of organizing “The Order in action” local events directed towards their local community, and to recruit more talent to join our family. I invite you all to consider joining The Order and become ambassadors in your parishes and eventually members of our governing council so that we can all share the beauty of this work together as one family united in faith and action.
