“What began as a visionary effort rooted in Metropolitan Philip’s pastoral wisdom and far-reaching leadership has grown into a vibrant philanthropic society whose impact is felt in every corner of our Archdiocese and well beyond it.” — His Eminence Metropolitan Saba.
This year, the Antiochian Archdiocese celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch, the venerable organization that has, does, and will continue to touch tens of thousands of lives, from campers to outreaches to retired and widowed clergy and their wives.
To celebrate, a special edition of The WORD Magazine takes a look back at The Order’s founder, His Eminence Metropolitan Philip of thrice-blessed memory. As Metropolitan Saba states, his predecessor envisioned “a community of faithful stewards dedicated to expanding the Church’s mission and extending Christ’s love through tangible acts of generosity and service.”
His Grace Bishop Thomas recalls his aunt, Sara, was the first clergy widow to receive financial assistance from The Order. Fr. Nicholas Andruchow of Project Mexico, St. Innocent & Casa Cuna Orphanages tells us about the hundreds of children and families they have saved through The Order’s members. Jaleen Claassen of The Treehouse Mission shares how The Order’s generosity has helped to provide parenting, life skills, and healthy relationship education, in addition to car seats, layettes diapers, formula, and wipes.
And the list goes on. Scroll through the pages and consider joining The Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch to touch and save even more lives.
